VP Roles:

• Focus on the organization as a whole and work at a big-picture, strategic level

• Oversee cross-functional areas such as operations, finance, outreach, or internal growth

• Roles vary by function and support the overall direction and sustainability of the organization

Branch Lead Roles:

• Focus on a specific STEM sector or niche

• Design and lead programs, initiatives, and opportunities within that STEM field

• Work closely with VPs while sharing a common goal of expanding STEM access and impact
  

Which role should I choose?

We recommend the Branch Lead role if you have experience or a strong interest in a specific STEM field and want to focus on that area. VP roles are better suited for applicants with more leadership experience who want to support the organization broadly rather than a single niche. Regardless of role, prior leadership experience is expected, as you’ll be leading team members and students.

What is the application timeline?

• January 12 – February 15: Written application window (Applications close February 15 at 11:59 PM PST—please consider your time zone.)

• February 16 – February 18: Applications reviewed; advancing candidates notified

• February 19 – February 26:

  • Interviews (all roles)

• February 27 – February 28: Deliberation

• March 1: Final decisions and offers sent
  

• A resume (even if it’s short—include school clubs, jobs, leadership, etc.)

• Potentially additional materials such as a portfolio, depending on the role.

Interview Format: You will interview alongside 1–2 other applicants. The interview has two sections:

1. Behavioral Section: You will answer individual, behavior-based questions. Prepare by reviewing common behavioral questions and using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Be ready to share your experiences and connect them to your role and our organization.

2. Scenario Section: You will work together with the other applicants to solve scenario-based questions within a time limit (around 25 minutes total). Prepare by considering typical challenges your role may face and brainstorming multiple solutions. Focus on teamwork, communication, time management, and creativity—remember, collaboration is key!

A coffee chat is a 15–20 minute conversation with someone who has previously held or currently holds the role you’re applying for. Important: This is ONLY for the Branch Lead roles. NOTE: You will likely be working with this person, so use this time to get to know them!)
